At this year’s Grenke Open, the world’s largest chess tournament with nearly 4,000 participants, Arian Alloussi drew impressive attention to himself. In a highly competitive field with opponents from all over the world, he demonstrated mental strength, positional understanding, and remarkable maturity and endurance. With an outstanding score of 7.5 out of 9 points, he achieved an excellent result and reached an impressive performance rating of 2137.
From the early rounds onward, it became clear that he was well prepared: with focused positional play and tactical precision, he defeated strong opponents from Ukraine and Germany. Particularly noteworthy was his stamina and his ability to maintain clarity in complex middlegame positions while consistently playing for a win.
As the tournament progressed, he confirmed his form and handled the increasing pressure with composure. Against experienced opponents, he was not intimidated but played boldly and creatively—a combination that earned him valuable points.
At the end of the tournament, he secured an outstanding 9th place in the overall standings—an achievement that, given the enormous number of participants and level of competition, must be regarded as a major success. In addition, he was awarded the prize for best youth player of the B-Open, further underlining his exceptional performance.
