đ A Journey That Began at Home
Chael, born in 2015, discovered chess at the age of six through his father. What started as a simple introduction quickly turned into a deep fascination. Even in those early days, one thing stood out: Chaelâs natural understanding of the game.
Despite having no one else in his immediate surroundings who shared his interest, he remained committed. A turning point came when a relative visiting from Germany recognized his unusual talent. Shortly after returning home, the relative sent Chael his first wooden chessboardâa small gesture that made a lasting impact and fueled his growing passion.
âď¸ Building Strength Against the Odds
Determined to support his son, Chaelâs father searched for local opportunities in Dar es Salaam. In 2023, they joined the Don Bosco Club, one of the few places where chess is played regularly. At the same time, Chael began training online, gaining access to lessons and opponents from around the world.
However, the chess infrastructure in Tanzania is still developing. With limited club activity and few structured training programs, Chael has had to rely largely on self-study and online play. Despite these challenges, his dedication never wavered.
He has competed in every youth tournament available in Dar es Salaamâoften standing out as one of the strongest players.
đ A Rising Talent
Chaelâs progress has been nothing short of impressive. Over time, he advanced through multiple age categories, competing inâand winningâtitles from Under-8 all the way to Under-18.
In late 2025, he took the next big step by entering open tournaments, where he faced stronger and more experienced opponents. These events accelerated his development and confirmed what many had already begun to notice: Chael is a serious talent.

Despite his success, Chaelâs journey has not been without obstacles. Limited access to structured coaching and financial constraints have so far prevented him from competing internationally or receiving consistent professional training.
Yet, his ambition remains clear.
He continues to train diligently online, constantly seeking to improve and test himself against stronger competition. His goal is to take the next stepâgaining access to formal coaching and representing his talent on the international stage.
